In the modern world, despite its high technology, there are still various signs, customs and amulets that have been preserved and passed down from our ancestors. A large number of them can be bought in some specialized stores at an excessive price, which is completely useless!
We offer you an alternative solution, so that you can make a lucky charm with your own hands from improvised means! It won't take long, but it will definitely give you enough pleasure and fun.
Originally from the past
Before we tell you how to make a lucky charm with your own hands, we will briefly tell you its story. And we will talk about the amulet dolls that were popular among our ancestors.
They usually patronized women, lovers and keepers of the hearth. Such an amulet for good luck should have been carefully stored in a secluded place so that no one could disturb him and somehow make him angry.
Since the common population was not particularly famous for its great wealth, the doll was created from improvised materials, scraps, scraps of cloth, straw and wood. A lucky charm could also be passed down from generation to generation, but if you don't own one, we can easily make it ourselves!
From the craftswoman to shred
To find materials for this craft, check your bins, because there is definitely something in them. Therefore, you will not only use cutouts, but also create an amulet for luck and money with your own hands.
What you need:
- Thread of Mouline. It is better to take red or white colors, which are best combined with the folk style. We'll also need less than half, so you can use cutouts.
- Various pieces of fabric. It is preferable to choose natural, as it is much easier to work with them, thanks to their properties, which make them similar to paper or cardboard.
- Flax fiber. We will use it to create the hair, thanks to its texture; and you can buy it in any store with natural products.
- Scissors.
The first master class: doll-bereginya
- From white linen fabric we make a column of any length and width, tying it in three places with a thread. This will be the body of the future amulet.
- Cut out a large square from the same fabric and, folding it into a triangle at one end, create a shape of the head and arms. We fix everything with a red or white thread.
- We separate the palms of the "wings" obtained with a thread, in the same way we make a belt.
- We make a shirt from a bright cotton fabric, cutting it out according to its shape and fixing it with threads in the same way. It is important to note that a do-it-yourself amulet for good luck is created without a needle and, of course, glue. Such materials are not welcome here, as they distance our talisman from its ancestors.
- You can also decorate the shirt with bright ribbons with ornaments, lace or beads, but do not overdo it, since, first of all, this is a popular doll.
- For the skirt, we cut a large circle with a slit in the center, put it on the amulet, and then fasten it with a thread from the wrong side. It can also be decorated as desired with ribbons, beads, flowers or embroidery.
- Now we take the linen, divide it in the center with a thread, with which we fasten the hair to the head, carefully hiding the knots.
- We weave a braid with the addition of ribbons, make a scarf from a fabric triangle and tie the ends around the neck in several turns.
- We put various cereals, seeds and herbs in a separate piece of cloth, put coins and form a knot, tying it with a thread to the doll's hand. This symbolizes prosperity in the house, wealth and good luck, which this ready-made amulet will surely bring you!
For every occasion
How to make a lucky amulet so that it fits in a palm, but at the same time, so as not to lose it - of course, make bags with various herbs that will attract happiness, prosperity and wealth to your home.
You all probably know that our ancestors paid great attention to various herbs and berries, giving them various magical properties. And we couldn't think of anything better than taking the plants, drying them and then putting them in small bags that are easy to spread around the house!
From everything and for everything
We will not delay long and immediately begin to tell which herbs can be used to create an amulet to attract good luck to your home.
We will describe only the most convenient, easy to find for each of us:
- Birch is the patroness of the hearth and female happiness.
- Elderberry is a magical and healing power.
- Elm: intelligence and wisdom.
- Oak - knowledge.
- Spruce: longevity and health.
- Willow - protection from damage and the evil eye.
- Clover is a hit.
- Nettle, linden, fern, thistle, wormwood, rowan, sage, hops and celandine - these are just some of those plants that may be suitable for us to create an amulet of good luck and wealth at home.
Second master class - a bag of happiness
For such a product, you will need to prepare in advance and, most importantly, if in the summer. It is during this season that all plants are at the level where they combine beauty and natural aroma. Then, gather all the herbs you need and dry them in the sun. This is the easiest and fastest way to get the materials you need for the job in a couple of days.
While the plants are drying, we sew small burlap bags ourselves. They can also be decorated with ribbons, embroidery or buttons. For the strings, we take strands of red dental floss.
When all the ingredients are ready, fill the bags with the herbs. You can do this not to the end, so that later it is not difficult to close it or, on the contrary, you can fill it so that dried flowers peek out from above. We fix everything with our own hands and threads, without the help of glue, and then arrange the bags throughout the house so that the amulet for good luck will definitely work!
Taste and color
If the above two options are not to your liking, then we offer another alternative option - a wooden amulet for good luck!
Its essence lies in the fact that it can be made not only as a pendant, but also as a brooch, ring or keychain. And it is also very nice that the product is environmentally friendly, because we will avoid the use of various chemicals, such as paints. We will replace them with coloring oils if necessary.
And for production you only need a small piece of thin wood, a burning appliance, sketches and sketches and accessories for further exploitation.
The third master class - a wooden amulet brings good luck and money
File the piece of wood into the desired shape with a file, then gently sand the edges to remove any sharp splinters or splinters. Also prepare the hole for the fittings in advance.
Apply a pencil drawing to one side, then heat the burner, then add depth and color to the drawing. Add some details and lettering, let the product cool.
For durability, treat the surface of the wood with a special oil or replace it with linseed oil. It will not only add color, but also make the amulet waterproof.
After absorbing the oil, the accessory can be safely placed on a wire as a pendant, glued to the base for rings, pins or whatever. You can leave it like this and, for example, put it in a secret pocket of the bag you are traveling with. So, luck and happiness will always be with you!
For a deep sleep
The next idea is great for those who not only want to get an amulet for good luck, but also decorate the interior of their room. We are talking about a fairly popular dream catcher, which also goes back a long time.
Most likely, its first creators were the Indians, who created a talisman to catch bad dreams and nightmares and hung over the sleeping person's head. Today we will create such an elegant amulet:
- Take a ring of any diameter, depending on the desired size of the dream catcher, and wrap it the entire length with thread or tape. There should be no gaps between it so that the base is not visible.
- As soon as the loom is ready, we begin to weave a spider web, adding sequins, beads and various decorations.
- Then, circle by circle, we fill in the "insides" of the dream catcher, obtaining a texture similar to a spider's web. Once done, carefully lock the thread and hide it.
- Now is the time to decorate the amulet for a calm and peaceful sleep. This can be done with feathers glued directly to the weaving threads or suspended from the threads on the edge of the loom. There you can also add large beads, ribbons, and whatever else you can find in your stock. Seashells can also be great for decorating the whole picture.
- All that remains is to form a ring with which to hang the dream catcher at the head of the bed so that your dreams are only kind and bright!
Additional ideas
Of course, the lucky charms do not end with the ones we have listed for you. Therefore, here are some more interesting options for you:
- Red thread. You probably already know that such a charm as an ordinary red thread, once wrapped around the wrist, is gaining popularity. Such an accessory can be easily recreated at home and decorated, for example, with personalized charms or beads.
- House bell. Another easy-to-make amulet is a small bell decorated with ribbons and fabrics. It symbolizes cleanliness and goodness in your home, and the front door often becomes his place of residence. The bell itself can be coated with gold or silver paint, which will add beauty to it.
- Horseshoe. This option is very popular and is easy to buy at any home improvement store. But it's also easy to do it yourself, because you just need to find a base in the shape of a horseshoe and then attach all your existing supplies. This list includes not only dried flowers, seeds, grains, fabrics, ribbons, but also coins. Also, often on the horseshoe itself you can see various pretzels, sweets and fruits made of polymer clay!
From all of the above, we can conclude: a lucky amulet is created from any material at hand. It doesn't take more than an hour in time, but the process itself brings not only pleasure, but also happiness with wealth to your home!
